"REBORN" VIDEO PROJECT
In my Multimedia Design course, our final project with Adobe Animate CC would be a grand finale combined animation. Finally, I was given a blank template without too many rules or restrictions on my work. I took advantage of this rare moment to create something that I felt was meaningful to me. I decided to create a short animation as a "music video" of sorts to accompany one of my favorite and most personally impactful songs of the year: Reborn, by Kid Cudi and Kanye West. This song means a lot to me and and has an important message that I can relate to and resonate with a lot.
The project started with a lot of experimentation. Animate CC did not have the tools to do either my art or my editing, which would both be key parts of the process, so I actually had to split the project between three software platforms. I created the art in Photoshop CC, edited the project in Premiere Pro CC, and split my animation between Animate CC and, again, Photoshop CC. This was expectedly a very inefficient and cumbersome workflow, but most of my knowledge is based in Premiere and Photoshop, so I felt more comfortable using those platforms in conjunction with Animate, which I know the least well. I think ideally, doing something like this wouldn't be a one man operation. As a result, the project took much longer than expected. It was a labor of love for sure.
The project culminated in a three minute video accompanying a (sadly) cut down version of the song. I knew the project had many flaws and needed much improvement, but I simply did not have the time to do everything I set out to achieve. Even so, I'm still somewhat content with the result. If anything, it was a fun learning experience.
